Comrade Admin 01/21/2020 (Tue) 17:19:13 No. 1
Welcome to /roulette/, Bunkerchan's roulette board! This board will be used for testing out new board ideas, based on the example of 7chan's /777/ board. The guidelines are as follows: -The countdown will begin as soon as the board is added to the top bar and will last for one month. -After a month, if the board has garnered enough posts on that month's topic, it will be made into a new board (barring any legitimate objections by the moderation team) and the threads will be moved there. Off-topic and spam posts will not count. Board ideas that do not meet this requirement will be shelved, with the possibility of being revisited later. -New board ideas can be suggested in the /gulag/ thread for /roulette/. This month's board topic is: /tech/ - Technology

>/tech/ >"new" board
Isn't is a problem for the board visibility that the name in the upper bar is shown as roulette and not as the name of the board that it's currently being tried out (e.g. tech)?
>>23 Yeah. Why not change it to /tech/ for a month?
>>23 Not really. People are going to check out the board out of curiosity and see what it is and that it is currently, /tech/. The concept of a random board needs to be, itself, visible.
>>28 > People are going to check out the board out of curiosity and see what it is and that it is currently, /tech/ Not entirely convinced, if that were the case then why isn't there more people checking and posting on boards with "obscure" name like /GET/ or /ref/? My fear is that the lack of visibility for the trial boards would generate a bias in the selection process due to "false negatives" e.g. a board would be rejected due to low post numbers which would not reflect a lack of interest within Bunkerchan's userbase (which is principally /leftypol/) but rather the fact that it was poorly advertised in the site itself. Not that I think it matters for /tech/ because the numbers were already low when it existed and was clearly visible but for the next potential trial boards like /his/, /lit/ or /v/ it could be a problem.
>>30 Mmm, I see your point. I think announcements in leftypol about what is the current roulette board would suffice? no?
>>31 Well, that could be a solution but I think the /leftypol/ mod team is not too keen on cluttering the board with pinned threads. Maybe Comatoast could chime in and tell us how they made it work over at 7chan? Personally, I would be in favor of temporally renaming this board with the trial board's name e.g. /tech/ - Roulette (or Trial Board) instead of /roulette/ - Tech Anyways, my main point is that the current trial board should be clearly advertised to be given a fair chance, however it is done.
>>1 >(barring any legitimate objections by the moderation team) Fuck you. Mods are there to keep shit off the board, not our leaders. What kind of shit is this?
>>35 On 7chan there was just an understood nature of the board. We also announce what ever new board is rolling on the wheel that month; we actually have an announcements section, though. We use kusabaX over there not lynxchan. I think everyone would benefit from an announcements section on the front page. Now that I'm thinking about it. Of course implementation of that and talking about it arw two different things. Rat ia the one who gets his hands dirty Currently.
>>45 You're an admin of 7chan? Space has spacechan... >tfw you realise bunkerchan is run by PROFESSIONAL imageboard mods No wonder nothing gets done. Too busy smelling their own farts and circlejerking on IRC.
>>47 No I'm just a mod at 7chan.
>>45 I think an announcement section would actually be a really good idea and if it isn't technically too bothersome to implement maybe you could bring this proposition to be voted on among the mod team?
>>48 The point stands.
>>49 I will talk to rat about it. I think we had a short discourse about it already in the beginning of October
>>47 >Nothing gets done. He said from the warmth of his newboard in his bunker that facilitated the life of leftypol in the wake of a catastrophic meltdown of 8chan.
>>52 sure will be put on the backlog as an easy somewhat high priority thing
>>60 Thank you Based Comrade Rat, hope life (and porkies) haven't been recently treating you too badly.
When and how the new trial board next month will be selected?
>>150 Sorry this response took so long: From my understanding we are doing them on a monthly basis. This boards trail run is up on the 27th of feb. Currently we appear to be check listing it; starting with tech then his etc etc etc. Pretty sure his is up next.
>>255 Forgot my trips
>>256 Thank you.
>New board ideas can be suggested in the /gulag/ thread for /roulette/. Sorry, for stating the obvious but there's no /gulag/ thread for this board. Where should I post board ideas?
>>258 I would bring them too /gulag/ itself or to the mod sticky.
>>1 Can somebody explain to me why the fuck is everyting announced only on /gulag/? Isn't /leftypol/ the board with the more traction? Also: You just killed HA! /dead/ and /tech/... why do you want new boards again? And how many posts are considered to be viable for the new board to form? What if the new board will siphon off a huge amount of people from another board (e.g.: Now we have /tech/ here but if it wins it's freedom nobody - who wants to post there - would check on /hobby/ )? How many boards do you want to create in total?
>>276 Not everything is announced only in gulag. Roulette was announced in the mod thread dawg. The thread is just so fast; leftypol only has more traction because users refuse to give otherboards traction.
>>255 >Pretty sure his is up next. Thank you!
>>276 >nobody - who wants to post there - would check on /hobby/ tech stuff is a job for a lot of people comrade
