Welcome to /roulette/, Bunkerchan's roulette board!
This board will be used for testing out new board ideas, based on the example of 7chan's /777/ board. The guidelines are as follows:
-The countdown will begin as soon as the board is added to the top bar and will last for one month.
-After a month, if the board has garnered enough posts on that month's topic, it will be made into a new board (barring any legitimate objections by the moderation team) and the threads will be moved there. Off-topic and spam posts will not count. Board ideas that do not meet this requirement will be shelved, with the possibility of being revisited later.
-New board ideas can be suggested in the /gulag/ thread for /roulette/.
This month's board topic is: /v/ - Vidya

What is bunkerchan's opinion of Tom Nook from Animal Crossing?
I've seen a lot of leftist argue that he deserves the bullet because he's a property owner, but others have said that in the game he gives away more than he could ever turn a profit from.
Does this mean he gets a pass?
I personally think Isabelle should be given critical support and usurp power from him at some point in time so that she could implement communal type measures after Nook industrializes the island using your labor, but it's almost as if the game is trying to say that Tom Nook is a necessary evil to get to modern communal living. The game doesn't really valorize his actions, either. He's a tanooki, and in Japanese folklore they are seen as tricksters by nature. In this way, he exists more as an anthropomorphized analog for the duplicity of the capitalist. Yet despite this, he also isn't as harsh as a modern capitalist might be. He doesn't tack on interest, have a set-in-stone timeline when you're supposed to pay him back, and won't ever repossess your home if you refuse to pay him. In this way, he represents more of the fantastical benevolent capitalist that Americans idealize.
The only conclusion I've been able to come to is that the developers themselves are a bit confused about who Tom Nook really is.

Have you guys ever played these two masterpieces? Literally no modern historical city building game can compete with these two, they are the most polished, well designed games I've ever seen.
Caesar III which was already great, was succeeded by the much superior Pharaoh, which expanded on what Caesar had already done right, and made it even better, and was so succesful that even had an "DLC" with many more levels.
Also, you guys can use this thread to share your custom maps aswell

why the FUCK is Oblivion/Morrowind so FUCKING DIFFICULT?
Seriously, I made an unarmed khajiit adept in theft and other based shit.
I did a bunch of theifs guild shit and did a bunch of fighters guild shit. I can finally kill enemies and I was finally feeling happy. I went to this cave near caldera that had a bunch of Dedra worshipers in it, I guess cause there was some random book of dedra in there. I made it to level 8 and I walk outside and I am immediantly bombsarded by a fucking clif rider and two fucking alits and now I am stuck in this fucking gay ass cave and have no idea what to do now. I tried running and I finally was making it back into a fucking city AND THEN THE FUCKING GAME CRASHED ==WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK MORROWIND? HOW THE FUCK DID ANYONE EVER PLACE THIS GOD DAMN SHIT!? I am fucking pissed beyond all belieF!!!

Call of Duty
I know about its factual inaccuracies. That it's just a copy of enemy at the gates. However let me explain how this was many kids first exposure to the ussr and what a great job it did communicating through gameplay what the war was.
The soviet campaign takes place last in the game, after the british and american ones. Throughout the game you visit many locations and the mood is an adventurous one. Soldiers remark on celebrating with bottles of wines from french cellars, the beauty of the architecture besides the one or two artillery shelled buildings. And there's never any shortage in supplies.
This quickly changes with the soviet campaign. From the start the design is something that looks like hell. There's no green grass, the sky isn't even blue. Every single building is destroyed by shelling. And what really let you know shit just got real, you don't even get a gun.
They didn't teach ww2 history besides d-day and the atomic bomb, so to a child, this was formative. The creators did an unmatched job communicating the disparity between east and west fronts in the war. It was very clear all of a sudden that the soviets were fighting for their survival in a way the british and americans weren't.
So bravo to call of duty, regardless of how shit it might have become later on, this game will always be one of the greatest achievements of the medium.

I feel like the industry push towards micro transactions and away from fully developed product is a way to hinder piracy online.
I just download skyrim and the sims totally for free with no issues, but, I tried to download Starcraft II and It's a fucking mammoth of a task to get it to work properly with out an internet connect. How can we even go about pirating games that require online play or whatever nonsense they are trying to peddle to make virtually free and perfect commodities cost money,?
Does anyone else feel this way?

Spanish civil war videogames
I've noticed a lack of Spanish civil war games, especially shooters. The thing is that there exist many mods for popular games about it, so there is an active comunity looking for one.

Shooty games with lots of bullets and cool ships and planes and mechas and bugs
>wut an STG
STGs is another term for shoot 'em up/shmup (though typically used for Japanese made ones), all of which kick ass.
No, though we came close. STGs have been kept alive in no small part by doujins, which has led to such awesome games as Crimzon Clover, Blue Wish, Hellsinker, and Blue Revolver, and the players who have been documenting, replaying, and scoring since the early days.
Blue Wish Resurrection is awesome and free:
Sure. Just try out Dodonpachi at some point.
What are you playing?
What are you replaying?
What are you scoring?
How's that highscore going?
How's that survival run going?
Horzy or verzy? (Verzy is the correct answer.)
What's your favourite ship?
What soundtrack has the highest bop ratio? (It's SaiDaiOuJou)
Why was CAVE so good?
Are you excited for the original M2 STG that's in development?
Listen to the ESP Ra.De. Ψ remix soundtrack of that port if you haven't yet!
