New socialist think tank Anonymous 02/12/2020 (Wed) 03:27:33 No. 272845
A new socialist think tank is being established and as far as I know, Caleb Maupin is one of the founders. Looks promising! https://www.cpi-usa.org/
who the fuck is caleb maupin
>>272859 One of the best marxist-leninist Youtubers: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA0N4UVTnqiFB7D3oS_xdWg

>>272859 He is pretty based when it comes to US foreign and internal policy yet has a lot of retarded takes. Thinking that China is socialist isn't that bad, yet he also believes that Putin is based, Russia is a petrosocialist state and that the Russian corporatist structure and companies like Gasprom are excelent example of public ownership of the means of production. He is an RT anchor, so maybe he just has to say shit like that. Or maybe he is an actual burger Duginist.

>Caleb Maupin is one of the founders. Looks promising!
>>273034 > Thinks Russia is in any way socialist
>>273092 No? I know his work quite well and he never claimed that russia is socialist.
Good. We have fucking neocon think tanks everywhere being funded by zionist millionaries, we need some sort of counter
>>273134 Was watching his last Sunday stream yesterday, he said something along the lines of: >Russia is going down the same petrosocialist route like Venezuela. >The Eurasian economic system like in Russia or China is showing a new alternative to the world
is russia or china bankrolling this?
Might as well remind everyone that the family of Fred Hampton and ex-Black Panther members actually have a socialist think tank set up in his honor: http://www.hamptoninstitution.org/
>>274275 As I understand Caleb isn't some sort of leader of it. It's supposed to be made up from people all over from Berniebros to hardline tankies
i predict it'll be ineffectual like psl, sa, sep, wwp, dsa, cpusa, greens, wsws
>>272859 A capitalist with socialist aesthetics

The website has been updated, these are the speakers on the event: https://www.cpi-usa.org/conference/
Ok so why do so many MLs still defend Russia? It's like their minds are no different from american boomers that still view Russia as the USSR
>>274299 sounds like hell. maybe you can recommend it to masochists?
>>276475 in defense of actual Marxism-Leninism, those people are revisionists. probably PSL too.
>>276475 Some MLS will defend whatever force that's vague anti-US

>>276469 >Mnar Muhawesh is founder, CEO and editor in chief of MintPress News, and is also a regular speaker on responsible journalism, sexism, neoconservativism within the media and journalism start-ups. She started her career as an independent multimedia journalist covering Midwest and national politics while focusing on civil liberties and social justice issues posting her reporting and exclusive interviews on her blog MintPress, which she later turned MintPress into the global news source it is today. In 2009, Muhawesh also became the first American woman to wear the hijab to anchor/report the news in American media. Muhawesh is also a wife and mother of a rascal four year old boy, juggling her duties as a CEO and motherly tasks successfully as supermom. Fucking hell, it's the legendary Muslim feminist: the double trouble of liberalism. >>276475 Defend Russia in which context?
>>273034 I doubt anyone could genuinely believe GazProm is socialist.
>>273385 >The Eurasian economic system like in Russia or China is showing a new alternative to the world Maybe he's Duginist Linkara?
>>276481 I hope the majority of MLs understand this tbh >>276484 Yeah pretty much >>276486 I mean, in this context "defend" doesn't really mean much, kinda like when braindead anti-imperialists say "support [insert third-world country with vague anti-american stances] against western imperialism." Obviously in these cases this "support" literally means nothing, you're just rooting for this guy to come on top of whatever conflict they may have. It's still retarded imo, cause these so called communists end up giving what they think are legitimate arguments to socialists to think Russia is somehow their ally, which couldn't be farther from the truth. Like I said previously though, thank God this people hold no power, they'd probably think the situation the world is in currently but turned around so Russia is in the position of the US would be a good thing.
>>276500 From a tactical perspective, russia is an ally. Do you think it's a coincidence, that all socialist states on this planet consider russia as a friend?

Just spitballing but I'd guess Maupin's attempt to create an American Dengism emerges from the limitations of PSL/WWP Marcyism (Maupin was a former WWP member right?) which I think is probably in decline. American MLism is a bit bizarre and seems like it diverged quite a lot from other countries, with the Marcyists known for their unqualified defense of all existing socialist states. But this seemed like it lacks an affirmative program to change conditions in the U.S., and became laser-focused on just defending those states against U.S. imperialism. A noble goal, yes, but reflexive of a defensive crouch American communists found themselves in. At worst, these groups come across as like cargo cults. The PSL doesn't ask too many questions about the actual nature of the Chinese system, they just uncritically support it against the U.S., whereas Maupin is literally pro-China in terms of the actual system and wants the American people to emulate it in their country. imo it seems like U.S. MLism (really, Marcyism) is being pulled in two directions -- toward Dengism in one direction so can fully embrace the Xi Jinping memes unironically, and on the other hand, going full anti-revisionist Hoxhaist and getting to work on constructing that bunker in your backyard.
American Dengism sounds like a horror movie.
>>276952 >friend it's just realpolitik
Interesting detail:
>>274275 More to the point why doesn't China fund some absolutely based News Agency such as Telesur or russia today if they are are such great socialists? Venezuela, Bolivia and even Ecuador have telesur. China has infinitely more resources than all of them.
>>300661 >absolutely based News Agency such as Telesur It can't be stressed enough how incredibly based telesur is. Have you seen their instagram? They have posts praising Thomas Sankara, Rosa Luxemburg and fucking Mao. Also Latin American leaders such as Castro, Chavez etc. obviously.
