Volunteer recruitment Anonymous Board volunteer 05/21/2020 (Thu) 18:12:33 No. 517839
Volunteer recruitment ENDED If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, send an email to [email protected] with a unique phrase that you also post in this thread so we can identify you. We will be checking post history, so if you use multiple IP addresses (ie. you post at home and post on mobile data or at work/education) please link to posts you may have made with another IP in your application in this thread so that we can check them too. In your email, please include a short blurb on what goals you wish to achieve as a volunteer, what you would change, your prefered moderation style, and perhaps a little about your ideological background. It would also be convenient if you could tell us your timezone and when you would usually be active moderating. We encourage you to use a disposable email, but keep in mind that we are going to use that email to send a reply.

>>518968 It's mainly removing spam, anchoring low effort threads and participating in the discussions and votes around the board and site. It doesn't have to take much more time than normal posting if you just want to remove spam when you see it and handle some reports. You can always ask for a summary on anything that happened in the mod thread.
>>519125 Correction: You can always ask for summaries of what happened in the mod chat. The private mod chat on discord is where we discuss what to do, ask for second opinions on actions we take from other mods, and vote on official proposal/changes to the manifesto/polls.
>>519204 >The private mod chat on discord I assume you mean Riot
>>519272 Yes im the big retard
OHNONONONONONO WHY WOULD ANYONE WILLINGLY BECOME A JANNIE ?AHAHAHAHAH AJAB
>>519421 I am an active whiner in the moderation thread and I kind of want to put my hand up but on the other hand I don't want to be a cuck willing to DO IT FOR FREE
>>519448 Yeeess very good prole all actions in life should be done for monetary compensation only, after all we are only after our own self interest. Don't do anything unless people pay you. Praise Friedman.
>>519489 I'm a materialist, not an idealist, of course actions should only be performed if they are in the material interest of the subject
(617.89 KB 500x375 1579516449898.gif)
>>519536 Imagine not getting the materialist/idealist split this hard.
>>519536 And advancing the socialist cause by improving this forum you use daily and to such an extend that you take the effort to try and give feedback for improvement isnt in your material interest?
>>519652 No, since I don’t own this board.
>>519770 >Socialism is only in my self interest of I can be turbostalin this time Gulag for you
>>518897 Linking to other post from computer as requested. >>475225
>>519770 Reminder: these are the people that shit up the mod thread.
>>519787 >Wanting to own the workplace you toil under is wanting to be a dictator. Come at me bro.
>>519876 >>519536 >>519448 >>519770 By merely visiting this site you are already contributing to it, in a sense working here for free. Any non-destructive thing you do on this site is more work, again done for free. Some people draw stuff (thanks draw anon), some pay for the site (thanks space_), some post news (tybna), some are very well read marxists and share their knowledge, some scan books, some make jokes, and some volunteer for the site's moderation. We are all working together to make this community work, whether we are aware of this or not. By putting in quality work, we attract more people who might be willing to also put in quality work. In this sense, the benefit we reap, besides belonging to a community, is the improvement of the content that we engage with, we reap the benefit because we are part of the community. Your intense individualism and consumption of ideology has made you blind to the obvious. Don't repeat such nonsense ever again.
>>519901 Based and RED pilled
>>519901 >By merely visiting this site you are already contributing to it, in a sense working here for free. I know, and it's the material root cause of a lot of dysfunction on this site. Don't do anything for free for anyone, including so called Communists. You want people to work for you, you need to offer something in return.
>>519901 >By putting in quality work, we attract more people who might be willing to also put in quality work. This doesn't happen because of the way this site is mismanaged. This site can't even get the old numbers it used to have on 8chan after a year. And it's mismanaged because the mods and Space own this place, and all the content creators that do the real work and make content, do not.
>>520241 >This site can't even get the old numbers it used to have on 8chan after a year. We never expected it to. On 8ch we had the natural advantage of being on a flourishing site, not our own isolated one.
>>520241 >>520241 >This site can't even get the old numbers it used to have on 8chan after a year. Bullshit we are doing way better since the post-split.
>>520430 >Bullshit we are doing way better since the post-split. No way, /leftypol/ was pulling 1200-1400 unique IPs at it's height. There was way more variety, and we'd have a couple of meme's go viral every year.
>>520452 That was way before the split.
>>520452 Also remember that a good chunk of those were literally shitposters from other boards, so those numbers are probably inflated by a bit. I do miss the inter-board interaction a bit though, even if it was mostly shit.
>>520486 >Also remember that a good chunk of those were literally shitposters from other boards, Only during raids.
>>520546 Which were more or less constant as far as I can remember. I swear old BO would be banning as fast as his greasy fingers could operate, and half of the frontpage would still be bait during the worst days
>>520452 That was before the split retard.
>>520570 >That was before the split retard. Yes, and...?
>>520574 You cant blame the current staff for the loss of numbers due to something none of them did.
>>519421 >Cuckchan image
>>519489 OHNONONO LOOK AT THIS FUCKING JANNY COPE AHHHHHH Newsflash pal! we sadly live in capitalism now and not in socialism so unless you pay me for doing the worst fucking waste of time online I ain't becoming a jannygro cuck AJAB
>>521304 Nobody asked you to you dumb cunt. Why don't you just fuck off out of here.
>>521304 Let me get this straight, you want to be paid for moderating an imageboard?
>>521304 Based post. Fuck jannies
>>521317 absolutely based
(6.80 KB 354x142 money-rott.jpeg)
>>521317 >>522861 not based don't put a money circuit into it or it will get co-opted by neo-liberalism, if you want to materially compensate mods try a gift economy instead. Consider all the e-celebs that slowly turned into grifters via the money based pavlovian conditioning.
>>524994 >gift economy How is this any different? Patreon is giving patronage which are gifts.
>>525025 >How is this any different? Patreon is giving patronage which are gifts. Patreon doesn't offer a gift economy it still uses the money circuit. But conceptually you are correct that a gift economy can still be bribery but the difference is, there is no middle man in a gift economy, So no third party than can play the gift-giver and gift-receiver against each other. Additionally Gifts are specific objects rather than universally exchangeable money, so that it's not really possible for the gift-giver to make the gift-receaver economically dependant. Lastly gift economies do have a tendency to tilt towards gift representing a social relation of rewards rather than bribes. While money based compensation has a tendency to tilt towards bribes rather than rewards. My point here is gift-economy is less harmful than money economy with regards of producing integrity.
>>525089 Plz send me a bottle of rum every month thank you.
(6.47 KB 132x225 rum.png)
>>525143 >make rum So i take molasses, water and yeast let it ferment then heat it up to distillate out the ethanol then I take the left-overs from the distillation and put that with a new batch for fermentation to get esters then repeat the process a bunch of time until it tastes like banana right ? Also separating out the methanol during distillation so that you don't go blind from drinking this. People used to do taste tests but i have no idea how to do that so, i would need to have some sort of chemical test. You know any chemical reactions that change color in the presence of methanol so i can make sure it doesn't contain any?
>>525374 >You know any chemical reactions that change color in the presence of methanol so i can make sure it doesn't contain any? Actually, when you use molasses as sugar, methanol isn't formed. It is formed when using other sources, like potatoes, refined sugar, cherries, etc. In that case, you throw away the first part of the distillate. I usually throw away 100-150ml when distilling 25L of wash.
>>524994 >>525025 I could be wrong but something tells me making a mod patreon will not make the resident shitposters happier.
>>525706 My biggest concern is that we shouldn't give 10% of our donations to a company like that. That just seems wasteful. If people wanna donate, they should buy _space's album.
>>517839 I tried sending a mail, but the delivery keeps failing
>>527649 Sorry. The server of the email provider I use is down for some reason. You can either wait for the server to go back up or for comatoast to put his own email in the OP (I asked him).
