What are you guys' thoughts on this game?
Edited last time by krates on 10/20/2020 (Tue) 16:28:29.
most effective explainer for why people become corrupt
lame
It's a pretty good game. Really intense with a lot of moral conundrums that puts into presoective that corruption and crime isn't always as clear and simple as human good/human bad. Beyond that, it gets really hard and whenever you overlook something you beat yourself up A LOT about it. Great game from a simple question and became huge in the cultural zeitgeist for a reason. What are some other games that people appreciate?

Opinions on RimWorld? I think it's a really good game about managing a small community of individuals with different skills, needs and personalities. Warfare in RimWorld is fucking terrifying because every warrior is a guy you have spent hours with, you understand their importance, you know of their relationships, you understand their personalities and if they die theres a true sense or loss there. Vanilla is pretty barren, but there are excellent mods for this. Much recommended for any leftyanon

>>5269 >Warfare in RimWorld is fucking terrifying because every warrior is a guy you have spent hours with, you understand their importance, you know of their relationships, you understand their personalities and if they die theres a true sense or loss there. Redpill me on this. That sounds fun. What's the main goal?
>>5269 Bought it, read lore.txt, immediately refunded it.
>>5270 The main goal is pretty much the same as similar games, survive, grow your base, get food, get supplies, etc. I haven't played the game though, so I'm only guessing. It's basically like Factorio, Minecraft, ZooTycoon, etc.

>>5269 >but there are excellent mods for this. Come on comrade. You can't say that and not list them >>5270 >paying for things Lel
>>5270 Have you played Terraria? Rimworld is like Terraria, but better, with space exploration and base management.
>>5270 >Redpill me on this. That sounds fun. What's the main goal? It depends. The main vanilla quest is to build a space-ship so you can get off planet, but the game is known for having "dynamic storytelling" in which an AI of your choosing creates tasks and events for you within parameters that you have decided. >>5274 >Come on comrade. You can't say that and not list them Basically anything in that "vanilla Expanded" series which is really well-made stuff, that adds almost as much content as the original game does. Beyond that there are some weapons mods that are really fun, and a Lovecraft mod that is sorta lulzy.
>Mods moved the thread They might as well just have deleted it tbh
Based as fuck
>>5280 Not him. I hate tankies and MLs with a passion, but that's bullshit. It wasn't only minorities that led the Russian Revolution, it wasn't only minorities that led the Cuban Revolution and it sure as fuck wasn't only minorities that led counterinsurgency of what would eventually lead to Yugoslavia. Yeah, PoC on average have a shittier time on borderland than people seen as white, but racism is very much a class issue.

>>5285 Forgot the fucking images.
>>5280 I wrote a bunch of shit before this got moved. Tldr vulgar class reductionism, as opposed to proper class analysis is bad. But liberal analysis of minority identities is patronizing as fuck and most minorities don't even want that. Unironically most people "just want to grill", without being tokenized, targeted, discriminated, or singled out.
>>5282 Oh cry me a river.
>>5286 >pic 2 Based >>5285 I agree with your post's sentiment, but what's with the "hate tankies and MLs"?
>>5293 It's something he says to himself so that he doesn't become totally alienated in the US. Don't blame him.
>>5294 Is more to say that I don't follow dead ideologies or think that the same strategy can be used in two vastly different societies with vastly different material conditions. Also, I'm not a burger.
>>5295 >dead ideologies <The largest active socialist movement in the world is the Marxist-Leninist party in India, with several million active protestors last year. >the same strategy can be used in two vastly different societies That's a legit concern, BUT that's not a reason to 'hate' MLs or tankies.
>>5270 It's literally the pleb version of Dwarf Fortress. It sacrifices some mechanical and detail depth, but compensates with an actually easy to use UI and a workable combat system, as well as with actual graphics. This makes the game accessible and actually allows you to care about your pops. Sure, DF might have a detailed description of appearance, personality and life of each dwarf, but you're not really going to bother with all of that, are you? Meanwhile RimWorld pops are far more relatable, both because they aren't just ASCII sprites, but also due to them being more rare to find, and more individually useful. The main goal of the game is to build yourself a spaceship and escape from ancapistan, while dealing with all the crazy shit that happens in between. Also it is fun to RP as a certain society IMO. Here's a rundown of the more interesting things from my last game: >To get mats from trade I decided to start a drug lab, producing stims, joints and crack >Lab was cut into the mountainside, so it would constantly get infested by space termites >Can't give bug meat to people, so instead I cut it to kibble and feed it to my livestock >Open an ancient toomb in my area. Filled with cryopods. These contain a bunch of ancient super soldiers. Knock them all out while they got cryosickness, rob them of their tech and send them away. Now I'm armed to the teeth. >One pop can't handle pain. Constantly collapses from the smallest problem, like squirel scratches. Prescribe them a diet of weed, which kills pain, and allows them to function in case of small injury. >Other pop goes a bit crazy, starts binging drugs. Instead of the safe options like weed or spirit tea, they pick crack. Order another pop to beat the shit out of them before they OD. >Buy a gang of worgs from a trader. Don't have an animal trainer, so after a year they go wild and attack me. >A bunch of other fun stuff.
>>5308 I tried DF, the combat is fine
>>5319 Well look at the city slicker who can be bothered to figure out how squads work.
>>5272 What? Why? The lore in Rimworld isn't a particularly prominent part of the game. It's mostly limited to the flavor text for character's backgrounds and otherwise serves as wallpaper for the base management and construction.

Really similar to the Communist era Russian literature I snort up my nose, so I'm assuming it's accurate.
The short film that went with this was real cool IMO.
Let’s see what you get for “Following the orders of the oppressive communist state. >Easily enough pay and resources to feed your family as long as your good at home economics. >Quick and stable increase in standard of living (Even without being a corrupt offical you can eventually purchase new apartments and finally a home for your family. >Absolute job security as long as you don’t catastrophically fuck up. Meanwhile if you become a corrupt offical or a terrorist you take a bunch of bribes from drug dealers and commit several terror attacks before fleeing the country
>>5361 Unironically true for real life USSR TBH
>>5361 Kinda bullshit on the "if you don't do good enough you starve" though. They should have a flat living wage with bigger bonuses based on your performance. The only cases where starvation like in the DPRK never happen to state officials.
