Holy Grail of Games Anonymous Gamer 04/28/2020 (Tue) 00:01:36 No. 350 [Reply] [Last]
(214.02 KB 1280x1016 SimLife.PNG)
I liked tinkering around with SimLife, but I never really understood the appeal of most Sim "games" to be honest. The goals (and thus the actual "game" structure) were often paper thin.
>>351 SimLife and SimEarth weren't "games" in any meaningful sense. The purpose was to play god and covered the world in flying molluscs or keep spamming natural disasters or whatever. The other games (SimCity, SimAnt, SimFarm, etc) actually put you in the world to some extent, so you had a sort of guidance.

>>383 Play warband
>>385 tbh vlandia is based around the post rome barbarian led kingdoms who had knights (not the meidival ones just nobles riding horses with some chainmale armor) So i was just fucking with you Althouhg those mask/helmet things they have make no sense
>>371 Empire because fuck nationalism.
So, I started my own kingdom, taking up a comfy corner of the Western Empire, but the nobles keep slipping out of my dungeon like it was made of paper. I was thinking about trying to play it cool and soft and keep some kind of diplomacy open between my Commonwealth Republic and other kingdoms, but I guess THIS IS A REVOLUTION NOW KILL ALL NOBLES OR SELL THEM TO SLAVERY It can't be helped. They just keep popping up with ever larger annoying bands of peasants if they escape or I let them go, which is a slow grind and attrition I can't afford. Sorry. FUCKING DIE!

Is anyone playing Kards? It's a new Hearthstone clone about WW2.
Kards is absolute shit. I played for 2 hours when it was in alpha before it even released on Steam and the monetization model is so fucking greedy it's insane. You had to win like 15 matches or something just to get a single card pack. Gwent is better.

Daggerfall Unity only takes 1 minute to install and mods are easy. Follow the video instructions. The files needed are here: Game files: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B0i8ZocaUWLGWHc1WlF3dHNUNTQ Daggerfall Unity: https://www.dfworkshop.net/projects/daggerfall-unity/live-builds/ Recommend these videos for info on mods: https://youtu.be/GyElwUjh3og https://youtu.be/yINjviYSO3s Mods are easy to install. All you have to do for most of the mods is go through to DaggerfallUnity_Data > StreamingAssets > Mods -- dump the dfmod files in the mod folder... But certain mods will have questpacks and instructions. You place the questpacks in a questpack folder and sometimes another folder depending on the mod. Recommended Mods:

>>392 You can play a rogue/thief like character. Those usually have critical strike still in primary along with dodging w/ short blades. And backstab somewhere in major. Illusion and mysticism might also work well with that build.
>>389 Where can I find daggerfall mods?
I was unaware this game is still as popular as it is.

So, I am at the part of the game where you have to go talk to the royals of wayrest && daggerfall and shit, but, they all hate me cause I am an argonian and I only made Royals hate the shit out of me cause I am a larping communist retard. What do? Who the fuck am I actually supposed to talk to because the kings and queens don't actually give me information. The queen of daggerfall has a quest for me, but, I can't do it yet until I am a higher level. Do I just have to keep doing quests for the nobles? Also, how do I recognize these fuckers?

Spanish civil war videogames Anonymous Gamer 03/31/2020 (Tue) 17:15:31 No. 405 [Reply] [Last]
I've noticed a lack of Spanish civil war games, especially shooters. The thing is that there exist many mods for popular games about it, so there is an active comunity looking for one.

Why aren’t there any American Civil War video games?
>>410 there's even a rather good looking shooter one existing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dXcHUcpTM0
Latest HoI4 DLC has a lot of Spanish Civil War content, including tankie, trot and anarcho-syndicalist paths.
>>405 Some years ago there was a Spanish-made RTS named "Sombras de la Guerra", but it sucked ass. There's a COD2 mod, but the only big games I know have official SCW content are Panzer General 2 and Hearts of Iron. >>410 There are a ton, but most are PC strategy games.

Does anyone have any idea when the sequel to BOTW is coming out?
>>516 No, not even the developers.
Is Skyward Sword worth playing on emulator without a wii motionplus? I tried to get into BotW but I think it's kinda tedious, I'd rather play one of the old, braindead 3D zeldas and SS is the only one I haven't played yet. >>514 I grew up with 64 and it was the first videogame I beat all by myself, but I cannot go back to it, the camera controls require certain dedication to master and the worlds feel pretty soulless
>>518 The motion plus is what really makes SS gameplay special, especially certain boss fight, so I don't know how enjoyable the game would be without it. >I grew up with 64 and it was the first videogame I beat all by myself Speaking of first games, I remember the first game I completed by myself was Wario Land 1 when I was 5. I remember I would play it on rainy afternoons (because otherwise my mom would take me to the park) on my bed and she would bring me toasts with butter and I would smear grease all over my gameboy which made it more difficult to play. I took 1 whole year to complete it, I think the big sprites and the simple but memorable music made it mesmerizing for the little kid I was. Moreover, it's a slow paced platformer with emphasis on exploration so this might have helped me as a kid. I really miss the Wario Land games.
>>518 You 100% need the special snowflake controls for the game to work at all. They'll probably never be able to remaster it like they've done with the others as a result. >>514 Mario Sunshine holds up pretty well except if you're a completionist (fucking blue coins). The worldbuilding was pretty incredible in context, since most games like that had totally disconnected worlds and it had everything in one cohesive setting. They really squeezed everything they could out of it, and the touches like seeing the other locations in the skybox was great.

>>546 Don't know if it tells more about me or about the music, but I can't help but seem to hear gachi remix sounds in that first video
I used to play stepmania
>>546 I don't know about the spyware, can you expand on that?
>>549 For ages the game was packaged with a screen recorder, that automatically ran every time you started a game and send the recording to the server, and an input recorder (though that one has been turned into a feature). Eventually people found out and the then current maintainer defended the decision as an anti-cheating tool. It was slated to be removed, but I never checked if they actually did take it out of the code.
>>548 Development has been revived: https://www.stepmania.com/forums/news/show/62885 I still play it on occasion. Basically the same old, though some of the new themes are very fancy.

HL VR Anonymous Comrade 11/21/2019 (Thu) 20:31:59 No. 1413 [Reply] [Last]

Alright as someone who was a fucking idiot 3 years ago when I had payed all my bills and was just sitting around with money from my summer job and ended up buying a Vive just to stop myself from buying crack(I should have gone with the crack tbh) I got Alyx and here's what I have to say about it: It's meh. Like if this wasn't a VR game it would be burned at the fucking stake for being so horribly average: There's only 4 guns(Decided to take a note from Bethesda and that gun customization made cutting the arsenal in half was OK), combat is meh at best since enemies are all bullet sponges and you can't keep a track of where your body is because you know VR. Graphics are nice but it has the same loading system as Half-Life 1 in that you go 20 feet of some tunnel before changing levels. That being said it's probably the best damn VR game I've ever played due to the fact that it's a decent game, most VR games are either $20 tech demos that have one gimmick and then lose their charm after 30 minutes or are a regular game that has VR support, so having an actual full length game being built around VR and has really good controls as well is amazing. That's not praise for the game btw, it's just the utter state of the VR industry right now. No, Skyrim/Fallout 4 don't count
>>1438 The problem with VR is it's expensive bullshit and there's 40 different versions of it. It's also usually a closed system. IDK if Valve's version is open or not. They have a history of supporting DIY and tinkering with their products, but they've moved away from that sort of mentality toward grasping at every nickel and dime they can get, being a monopoly on digital game sales now.
Is Half-Life Alyx good enough that I should try and avoid spoilers for potentially multiple years before I play it? I keep hearing the ending is mind blowing, which makes me want to see it and avoid it at the same time. >>1432 I'm necroposting here, but one must-have mod for HL2 is MMod. Basically, it takes vanilla HL2 and makes the combat actually good with revamped AI and new weapon models and ballistics. Worth it just for the MMod shotgun, it's fucking amazing, hard to describe why but it's my favorite shotgun in an FPS.
>>1442 um sorry sweaty but half alyx life is the best VR game of all time and deserves all the GOTY awards and should be enshrined in a hall of fame you're just mad because alyx is half black so it makes you want to say the gaymer word have sex incel
