emulators Comrade 05/25/2020 (Mon) 13:18:20 No. 679 [Reply] [Last]
Citra got released on mobile and my Snapdragon 632 is able to handle Pokemon Y pretty decently, but I'm really scared that it will decrease my phones overall life shorter because I think emulators in general cause a lot of stress to my phone Anyone know how do I keep my phone perfect and functional for ages so that I can keep gambling in my gachas? I keep getting the poor thing bumped into walls and it even fell fully into the water for 5 seconds

>>679 Honestly, I would try to get a N3DS. A N3DS should go for cheap (new N2DS got more expensive because of corona) is easy as fuck to hack, and is probably the best portable emulation machine right now.
>>875 I'd argue the Vita is a better emulation machine and is easier to hack, but 3ds is alright.

Summer Heat Anonymous Gamer 04/11/2020 (Sat) 16:21:27 No. 398 [Reply] [Last]
I want to play video games but it's so warm and the heat generated by the computer would make it a lot worse.

Just get a fan bro?
>>744 That keeps the CPU cool, I think OP meant running the PC for a long time heats up the room, and there's nothing you can do about that that's just thermodynamics.

>>291 They're not the same game, and not even the same genre. Stardew Valley is still better than the latest Harvest Moon tho.
gud gaem
I don't own the Switch, but watching videos of Animal Crossing I just never got the appeal. It seemed to be like Harvest Moon, only with a lot more repetitious tasks and annoying furries/childish cartoon characters. Harvest moon seems more fun, even if it's capitalist.
>>730 It's more of a Sims kinda game rather than Harvest Moon kinda game.
>>293 But it is still shittier than Rune Factory 4

Shooty games with lots of bullets and cool ships and planes and mechas and bugs Anonymous Gamer 03/31/2020 (Tue) 17:43:13 No. 526 [Reply] [Last]
Real shit. >wut an STG STGs is another term for shoot 'em up/shmup (though typically used for Japanese made ones), all of which kick ass. >didnae die??? No, though we came close. STGs have been kept alive in no small part by doujins, which has led to such awesome games as Crimzon Clover, Blue Wish, Hellsinker, and Blue Revolver, and the players who have been documenting, replaying, and scoring since the early days. >gimme Blue Wish Resurrection is awesome and free: Plus: http://www.vector.co.jp/download/file/winnt/game/fh452584.html http://www.vector.co.jp/download/file/winnt/game/fh416461.html >2hu? Sure. Just try out Dodonpachi at some point. What are you playing?

I'm a fan of Sora. Great controls and you don't die in one hit if you hit a bullet, but can dash over lasers (only if you hit missiles without dashing do you take damage.) Dashing raises your heat though which causes you to take more damage if you get hit later. There's actually a lot of depth, and I wish the creator would make a sequel instead of continuing to be a salary worker who also develops DLC for 100% Orange Juice in his free time. It feels like a waste of his talents.

>>664 That is really fucking good. Do you have more early 2000s arcade stuff to recommend? That specific period of time is quickly becoming a golden era for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUP_yAmJbNU (doesn't really fit the bill, but still)
>>684 I played the XX series religiously until Ishiwatari and the rest of AWS betrayed me with Xrd. Ishiwatari's music since Overture hasn't really impressed me, and I get the sense that he might have been a one-trick pony since most of his good themes really just stole riffs from classic heavy metal songs. Guilty Gear Isuka on the other hand has a great little original soundtrack that he had nothing to do with.

Why don't we hear about them more often? Theses OSTs were totally different than japanese ones for consoles at the same time, because of the technology but also in the composition. The MT-32 is my dream machine, I currently own a SC-88 that I used for Touhou and it was... something.

What games do leftypol play? I played through Stalker recently, I also like Deus Ex, Mount and Blade Warband, Dark Souls. I play supreme commander daily and generally enjoy strategy games.

I've finally realized after many years of contemplation the perfect way to do skill checks and other things of that nature in video games: Present the player with a dice roll and then allow them to decide whether it works or not. Take the example of a pickpocket attempt that has a 50% chance of success. Typically what would happen is the player preforms the action and is then told whether it succeed or failed. If they don't like the results they reload. The New Way would involve the player preforming the action and then being presented with the resulting dice roll and themselves have to decide whether to play along or not. Trying to circumvent the players agency by meta punishing them with autosaving and things of that nature always struck me as futile and misguided(Also why I think karma system are bad but that's another story). I agree cheating is bad, but this way you can see the truth of why it is laid out in front of you. Its honest, and likely more engaging.
I'm afraid I don't understand your idea at all, OP. Can you articulate it clearer? Dice rolls for success or failure are one of the worst mechanics of all time ripped straight from tabletop role-playing stuff with poor pretensions about actually being games. The best solution is to take this shit mechanic and toss in the trash where it has always belonged. Random numbers for damage or whatever are fine, but critical success or failure mechanics should not be decided by dice rolls, period. The whole point of a game is to test one's skill for entertainment and these stupid mechanics have always flied in the face of that.

What is bunkerchan's opinion of Tom Nook from Animal Crossing? I've seen a lot of leftist argue that he deserves the bullet because he's a property owner, but others have said that in the game he gives away more than he could ever turn a profit from. Does this mean he gets a pass? I personally think Isabelle should be given critical support and usurp power from him at some point in time so that she could implement communal type measures after Nook industrializes the island using your labor, but it's almost as if the game is trying to say that Tom Nook is a necessary evil to get to modern communal living. The game doesn't really valorize his actions, either. He's a tanooki, and in Japanese folklore they are seen as tricksters by nature. In this way, he exists more as an anthropomorphized analog for the duplicity of the capitalist. Yet despite this, he also isn't as harsh as a modern capitalist might be. He doesn't tack on interest, have a set-in-stone timeline when you're supposed to pay him back, and won't ever repossess your home if you refuse to pay him. In this way, he represents more of the fantastical benevolent capitalist that Americans idealize. The only conclusion I've been able to come to is that the developers themselves are a bit confused about who Tom Nook really is.
