Even if that was true, that doesn't invalidate the protesters. But if we're going to apply your logic to the labor movement, then it's invalid. Because the question is not if, but how few layers of separation there is between social democrat politicians and some kook that denies the genocide in Cambodia.
Then of course the layers of separation could be trivial. Such as the politician attended some conference one year and the next year someone who kicked out the kook of his org attended the same conference.
