NEETs and work Comrade 04/09/2017 (Sun) 21:11:49 Id: c890b9 [Preview] No. 3305
Let's say that a socialist/communist utopia becomes a reality and that everyone could have their basic needs taken care of, including work being available for everyone that wants it, do you think a larger percentage of people would sit around and do nothing?

I've spent some time on other chans talking to NEETs and the vast majority would rather be doing something with their lives rather than sitting around playing games and watching hentai even if it was menial work.

What does left think? Are people inherently lazy or would more people be working in a communist/socialist-automated utopia?
NEET here.
had a good corporate job as a consultant, lived off of unemployment while it lasted, then lived off my tax returns for four (!) months, haven't dipped into my CRP yet. I live in a metropolitan area of middling expense.

Yeah, the only reason I want to go back to work is because it makes conversations, especially first meetings, very awkward if you don't have a job in a society that worships work. If we have a UBI, even if it only amounted to 20-30k a year, I would take it hands-down.

The only socialists I know IRL are Trots or Maoists and they all worship work too, so I feel like it's better to have a job no matter how the economy is structured.
